About Great Cruise DAO
What kind of organization is Great Cruise DAO?
We are a co-creation community whose chart reads: “give every person the chance to touch the sea, and the freedom to set their own course.” The Admiral and the crew actually take boats out — trial sails, film-location charters, and real experiences on the water. It isn’t a concept on paper; the ships are genuinely moving.
What is a “DAO”? It sounds complicated.
Here, a DAO simply means “a way to build the voyage together.” Rather than a small group running everything, it’s an open organization where the people who get involved can take part in activities and decisions. No technical background or blockchain knowledge is required.
What does “Be crew, not a tourist” mean?
It means you can be someone who helps build the voyage itself, not just a passenger riding a fixed itinerary. That said, simply coming aboard to enjoy the ride is welcome too. Where you start is up to you.
Getting Involved
How do I get involved? What should I do first?
There are two doors. Join a hands-on experience event (announced via Peatix), or drop into our official Discord. Coming just to look around or ask a question is completely fine.
Do I need any sailing or sea experience?
No. Most people are first-timers. Before you board, we walk you through what to bring and what to watch out for in our Boarding Guide.
I can’t join every week. Is once in a while okay?
Of course. Once a month, or a single time, is welcome. Pause when you’re busy and come back later — the whole thing is designed around that kind of involvement.
Is it okay to just watch or read?
Yes. Following along is a real way to be a Mate too. Reading our updates, watching the events from a distance — that counts.
Can I take part even if I live far away?
Yes. There are things you can do without coming to the sea — talking with us on social media or Discord, helping plan online, and more.
Cost & Membership
Does it cost anything?
Getting involved is free. There is no fee to be a Mate (L1) or Crew (L2). Costs only apply when you join a paid experience event, or when you become a Navigator (L3 / ¥3,000 per month) with voting and budget authority.
Tell me about the membership levels.
Depending on how deeply you want to be involved, the levels are Mate → Crew → Navigator. Mate and Crew are free; a Navigator pays ¥3,000 per month and takes on voting and budget execution. These aren’t fixed ranks — they’re a rough measure of “how much you want to be involved right now,” and you can move between them anytime.
What are NAVI points? Are they an investment?
NAVI is a trust record that accumulates from your actions — joining events, contributing, and so on. You can’t buy it or sell it. It is not an investment product or a crypto asset; it simply records the footprints of your voyage.
Experiences, Events & Safety
Where are events held, and how do I sign up?
We announce events on the official site and our social channels, and registration is handled through Peatix. Location and fees vary by event.
What should I bring, and what should I watch out for on board?
Please bring non-slip shoes, a hat, warm/rain gear, and motion-sickness medicine. Details are in our Boarding Guide. For safety, always follow the instructions of the skipper (your guide).
I’m worried about seasickness.
Taking motion-sickness medicine about 30 minutes before departure helps. If you start to feel unwell, let us know early. Facing the wind and looking at the distant horizon often makes it easier.
Can students and younger people take part?
Yes. Regardless of age, you take part on the same footing and under the same titles as everyone else. Getting involved with your time rather than your money is welcome too.
Trust & Operations (for government, media & partners)
Do you disclose your finances and results?
We publish our income and expenses, participant numbers, and even the things that didn’t go well — every month, as they are. We don’t edit them to look better. We put all the material out so you can judge for yourself.
Who runs this? Can I reach out about coverage or a partnership?
The organization is run with the Admiral (Yuno) at its center. For coverage, collaboration, or working with government bodies, please reach us at customer-service@great-cruise-era.com or via our official Discord.
You publish product reviews on the site — are they ads?
We review only gear the Admiral has actually used, and we write honestly. Articles containing affiliate links say so clearly. We write the downsides as well as the good points.
Can I donate or support you?
We are currently setting up ways to support us. The latest information will be announced on the official site and Discord. To start, please take a look at our monthly transparency reports.
